Data requests
Last updated: April 21, 2026
This page explains how to submit a Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) to Marimo — including requests to access, delete, correct, or export your personal data. For the full list of rights and how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
Which rights you can exercise
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We apply these rights to all users regardless of location:
- Right of access. Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”). Request that we delete your account and associated personal data.
- Right to portability. Request a machine-readable export of your data so you can move it elsewhere.
- Right to correction. Ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to restrict or object to processing. Ask us to limit how we use your data.
Self-service options
Before sending a request, you may be able to handle it yourself:
- Delete your account. If you have a Community Cloud account, go to Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. Your account becomes inaccessible immediately and all personal data is purged from active systems within 30 days and from backups within 60 days.
- Update your profile. Edit your name, email, or password under Settings → Account.
- Export notebooks. You can download any notebook you own from your dashboard at any time.
How to submit a request
Email privacy@marimo.io with:
- The type of request (access, deletion, portability, correction, restriction, or objection).
- The email address associated with your Marimo account, or — if you do not have an account — the identifier (e.g. email, notebook URL, IP range) the request concerns.
- Enough detail for us to locate your data. For molab (anonymous playground) requests, include any notebook URLs, timestamps, or other identifiers that can help us find the relevant records.
If you are an authorized agent acting on someone else’s behalf, include written consent signed by the account holder.
What happens next
- Acknowledgement: we confirm receipt within 5 business days.
- Verification: we may ask you to confirm ownership of the account, typically by replying from the registered email address.
- Response: we aim to complete the request within 30 days. If the request is complex and we need more time, we will let you know and explain why.
- Deletion: once a deletion request is honored, content becomes inaccessible immediately, is purged from active systems within 30 days, and from backups within 60 days.
Fees
We do not charge for data subject requests. If a request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive, we may charge a reasonable fee or decline it, and will explain our reasoning.
Appeals and complaints
If you disagree with our decision, reply to our response and we will review it. You may also file a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in the EU or UK, your authority can be found via the EDPB or ICO.
